Bosch motors: which one, and who services it
Most of our bikes run Bosch, and there is one reason above all others: when something goes wrong, there is somewhere to take it. Here is how the range differs and what the motor actually needs in Spain.
CX or SX, and nothing else matters much
Bosch makes several motors, but for practical purposes the choice is between two, and it comes down to what you are going to ride.
1Performance CX
The mountain motor. Maximum torque for long climbs and technical ground. If you are riding in the Sierra, this is the one.
2Performance SX
Lighter and more compact, for lightweight and urban bikes. Less push, noticeably less weight.
3Battery size
From 400 to 800 Wh. More capacity means more range and about a kilo more weight. Most riders are well served by 600.
4Range extender
Some models take an additional battery. Worth asking about before you buy rather than after.

What the motor needs in this climate
Bosch systems are famously low-maintenance, which is much of the point. But Spain is harder on an e-bike than northern Europe in three specific ways.
- Heat is the enemy of batteries. Never leave the bike or the battery in a parked car or in direct sun. For long storage, keep it at partial charge somewhere cool.
- Dust wears drivetrains faster than mud. Chains and cassettes need cleaning and lubricating more often here, not less.
- Long climbs mean sustained load. Nothing breaks, but it is why 800 Wh batteries are more popular in Spain than they are back home.

Official Bosch service near you
Software updates, diagnostics and warranty work all have to be done at an official service point. That is exactly what our partner network is — more than 70 real bike shops across Spain, plus our own workshop in Colmenar Viejo, Madrid.
We apply software updates during a normal service rather than making a separate appointment of it. And if the motor needs a warranty claim, we handle it with Bosch — you never ship anything abroad.

How to get the bike right the first time
People who send a bike back have rarely bought the wrong brand. They bought the wrong frame size, or a bike built for the ride they imagine rather than the one they actually do.
1Frame size first
This is the expensive mistake. Two sizes out cannot be rescued with a longer stem or a taller seatpost. Send us your height and your inside leg measurement before we talk about models at all.
2Too much battery
An 800 Wh pack costs more and adds around a kilo that you carry on every single ride. If your usual outing is 40 kilometres with some climbing, 600 Wh is already more than enough.
3The riding you actually do
Many people buy full suspension for the mountain trip they take once a year, then ride tarmac and gravel tracks every week. Buy for the weekly ride. The once-a-year trip will be fine on it anyway.
4Servicing is real
The motor does the hard work, so you cover more kilometres, and the chain, brake pads and tyres wear at that same higher rate. Budget one service a year plus pads. No e-bike is maintenance-free.

The small print, without the small print
These are the questions people ask in the last message before deciding. Here are the answers in advance, including the parts that are not in our favour and the ones we have to check with you first.
- What the price includes. Delivery anywhere on the Spanish mainland, the bike built, adjusted and road-tested in our workshop in Colmenar Viejo, and the warranty handled by us. No assembly fee, no set-up fee.
- What it does not. The islands are extra: Tenerife 150 €, the rest of the Canaries 200 €, and Canary import formalities are yours. Payment methods and Cofidis finance for non-residents depend on your case, so ask before committing.
- The warranty stays in Spain. It is the manufacturer’s warranty, Bosch or DJI, and we process it from here. You never ship the bike back to your home country. More than 70 partner workshops around Spain do the work.
- If something is unavailable. We give you the date the factory gives us, not the one that sounds better. If it is eleven weeks, we say eleven weeks, and you decide whether it is worth waiting.
